The Excellent Phantom Circuit has been kind enough to play 2 tunes of my album Consistently Mediocre and Daydreams on Phantom Circuit 73. I know I have mentioned Phantom Circuit a number of times on this blog, but if you go to here and have a glance at the line up for all 73 programs, I think you will agree that its definitely worth a listen every month. And of course I am on there now.........did I mention that?

Spacedog New Site

The truly excellent Spacedog have a new site. If you get the chance visit it here
In their own words Spacedog are,
Live music for theremin, vocals, saw, percussion and our famous uncanny musical robots. Our music reflects our obsessions with defunct machines, faded variety acts and the darkest English folk tales.
You can't go wrong with any of that. Also check out their interview on The Phantom Circuit 66
def worth a listen. I believe there are also plans for a Spacedog ep soon.

The Film One

I have just got a copy of Mat Pringle's Fanzine The Film One. In Mats own words its
Twenty six original illustrations and designs from the likes of Paul Bommer, Lizzie Stewart, Andy Votel, Lewis Heriz, Henry St Leger, Jake Blanchard, Lord Bunn, Josceline Fenton, Stewart Easton and many more. Each artist has contributed artwork inspired by their favourite film and written a few accompanying words for each piece.
The Film One is available from here for the very good price of £4.50. I should also mention that Mr Unmann Wittering from the Island of Terror and Found Objects has written an article about the Hammer film The Satanic Rites Of Dracula. Its all very very good and worth getting hold of.

Consistently Mediocre and Daydreams. Now Available

At last my album Consistently Mediocre and Daydreams is Now Available. It has taken me a very long time, but as it is with life, things tend to get in the way and slow things down. The album is available from iTunes and Amazon.

Now I forgot all about this

Its funny how you totally forget about some songs/music, and then when you re-discover them it is quite an exciting moment. White Room originally by Cream was covered in the late 70s by Hugh Cornwell (Stranglers) and Robert Williams (Captain BeefheartI do remember when this came out, because there seemed to be a resounding "who is Robert Wlliams?"
My quest to find out who Robert Williams was then took me onto a different musical path. Which in turn led me into some very new and interesting musical areas. Anyway as for this version of White Room..........I really like it. It has a sort of sloppy stumbling feel to it, and of course the Nosferatu inspired vid is pretty good as well. And to think I forgot all about this.

John Baker

Recently went to a record fair and managed to buy This John Baker Tapes album which is on Trunk Records. This was a bit of a result. As my approach to record fairs is this. I only take a set amount of money with me, and when that money has gone its time to get out.......fast.
On this occasion I walked in and went straight to the soundtracks and Radiophonics box. Started going through the records and after about a minute saw this album. Grabbed it payed the chap for it and was outside. Total time about 5 minutes.
As for the album it is wonderful. Full of bleeps sweeps and noises and wonderful tunes. Must try and get the other John Baker albums now.

Mr Stevens

This is a very exciting and rare moment. I have managed to get a photo of Mr Stevens.... The Curator of all things Shndg.
I wonder? who could Mr Stevens be talking to?.... Maybe he could be arranging the next Shndg? or maybe booking an act? or just talking to Miss Jones and asking for a cup of tea. Who knows? But what ever it is you know it will def be worthy of Shndg.

Pye Corner Audio Black Mill Tapes

If like me you like/love clunky old analogue electronics. Then I strongly urge you all to check out Pye Corner Audio
Black Mill Tapes Vol 1 & 2 are a must for us old synth bods. Vol 1 & 2 are filled up with lovely synth drones, pulses bleeps and rhythms which instantly beg to be heard again and again.
A good friend of mine Mr Stevens the curator of all things Shndg, saw Pye Audio/The Head Technician at the recent Belbury Youth Club in Brighton. And informed me that it was "really bloody good, you should have been there".  Personal favs of mine are the Haunting Theme Number 6 and Theme Number 4.

Venom and Eternity

Some time ago, I got a call from a good friend Mr Heartfield, asking me if I would like to contribute some vocals to his new album Venom and Eternity. Of course I agreed. And so I wrote the lyrics to the track Once at a border. This album is def worth checking out. A greatly produced album which I know for a fact Me H spent a very very long time on. My personal fav is Decade Senses and Schrage Musik. I hope to be including Schrage Musik in my next Test Transmission Archive Reel 4 in June.
